John Cooney

About

John Cooney is a journalist and author of both non-fiction and fiction books. His articles and book reviews have appeared in numerous publications, including Forbes, FORTUNE, The New York Times, Institutional Investor and The Wall Street Journal.

John formerly worked for The Wall Street Journal as a reporter, editor and foreign correspondent; his work in Cuba was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. He has reported from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe and The Middle East. His articles have covered numerous subjects, ranging from the bankruptcy of the Penn Central Railroad to political upheaval in India.

John Cooney was a Rotary International Fellow in India and a recipient of the Russell Sage Fellowship for journalists, which took him to Sweden. He received the University of Missouri Journalism School’s research award for his book on the Annenbergs; the book was also nominated for a Pulitzer.
